Description

Murano Millefiori Glass Lamp attributed to Fratelli Toso, Italian, Circa 1930.

Complete with its original mushroom shade, held by an ornate brass frame with brass thumb screws which along with the Bakelite bulb holder dates this particular example to Circa 1930.

Professionally rewired with the correct silk braid, the original Bakelite bulb holder refurbed. PAT safety tested, complete with new retro LED bulb and plug, ready to enjoy.

Total height (lampshade included) 35cm.

Fratelli Toso: One of the oldest and most celebrated family-run glassmakers on the island of Murano, Italy, with a history spanning over 170 years. The company was founded in 1854 by Pietro Toso and his six sons (Ferdinando, Carlo, Liberato, Angelo, Giovanni, and Gregorio). Fratelli Toso International filed for bankruptcy and closed permanently in 1981.

Millefiori: Meaning a "thousand flowers" in Italian, is an ancient glasswork technique involving the fusing, stretching, and slicing of coloured glass rods to reveal intricate floral or mosaic patterns.
