Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the Victorian era, small folding knives with mother of pearl handles and silver blades were commonly used for sharpening quill pens, cutting fruit, or as delicate pocket accessories for both men and women.

These implements typically feature handles carved from iridescent nacre, commonly known as mother of pearl, paired with sterling silver blades and internal brass or steel mechanisms.

Authenticity is usually verified by examining the metal components for traditional British hallmarks, assessing the patina on the silver, and checking the natural grain and weight of the mother of pearl scales.

Such small items can be displayed within glass-topped collector cases, shadow boxes, or styled atop a stack of vintage books on a desk or mantelpiece.

Silver components should be gently polished with a non-abrasive cloth to maintain their lustre, while mother of pearl must be kept away from harsh chemicals and excessive moisture to prevent surface damage.
