Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Art Deco table lamp from 1940 is made from chrome and glass with silver and white colours. The design includes a spherical white glass globe shade, a circular frame, a central lightning motif, and a stepped circular base. The metal components have a newly rechromed finish, and the lamp includes visible hardware beneath the shade and feet supporting the base. The piece measures 38 cm high, 13 cm wide, and 13 cm deep. Position this lamp on a sideboard top to provide functional illumination and a distinctive twentieth-century aesthetic. The streamlined metallic construction and geometric motifs integrate smoothly into living rooms, hallways, or studies furnished in period or contemporary styles.

FAQs

Art Deco lighting from the 1920s and 1930s is defined by geometric shapes, streamlined contours, symmetrical structures, and industrial motifs such as zig-zags and sunbursts.

Lamps from this period frequently utilised polished chrome, nickel-plated metals, brass, Bakelite, and frosted or opal glass globe shades.

Authentic pieces often feature period-correct internal wiring components, aged patina or microscopic pitting on plated metal, heavy cast bases, and hand-blown glass shades.

A metallic Art Deco lamp can serve as a focal point on a sleek sideboard, marble fireplace mantle, or contemporary executive desk, contrasting structured lines against neutral backdrops.

Clean chrome surfaces using a soft microfibre cloth dampened with water and mild soap, drying immediately to prevent water spots, while glass shades should be unmounted and wiped with dedicated glass cleaner.
