This pendant light dates from the Art Deco period of the 1920s and follows a striking silhouette. The body consists of a white opaline glass shade displaying stepped contours, horizontal reeded moulding, and a conical lower section. A metallic chrome gallery crowns the top of the shade, which connects to a silver-coloured metal chain suspension and a braided flex. The visual elements include visible screws on the chrome collar, vertical links in the hanging chain, and a polished metallic finish reflecting light on the upper shoulder. Practical installation allows this ceiling fixture to hang in an interior space such as a hallway, kitchen, or dining room. The piece measures 41 cm high from the top of the gallery and 25 cm wide at the widest point. The wiring meets modern electrical standards and includes a PAT safety test certificate. It provides direct downward illumination while adding mid-century decorative character to domestic ceilings. The neutral colour palette complements various interior schemes ranging from period properties to contemporary apartments.

Opaline glass is a decorative, translucent or semi-opaque glass developed in France during the nineteenth century, gaining widespread popularity in Art Deco lighting design. It creates a soft, diffused illumination that reduces glare while providing functional ambient lighting.

These light fittings typically combine blown or moulded opaline glass shades with brass or chrome-plated metal galleries and suspension chains. The glass incorporates bone ash or tin oxide to achieve its characteristic milky translucency.

Authentic vintage opaline glass displays a subtle glow or fiery iridescence when held up to direct light, along with smooth hand-finished edges. Hand-blown or early moulded pieces may also feature minor air bubbles and slight variations in the glass thickness.

An opaline pendant light works exceptionally well as a central focal point above a kitchen island, dining table, or hallway. Its classic geometric form and soft white tone complement both contemporary minimalist spaces and heritage period interiors.

To clean the shade, wipe the glass gently with a soft, damp microfibre cloth and mild soapy water, avoiding abrasive cleaners. Ensure metal components like chrome galleries are kept dry to prevent tarnishing or corrosion over time.
