Late 19th-century silver candlesticks often reflect a revival of classical forms, incorporating Georgian proportions with structured bases and refined tapering columns.

These pieces are typically constructed from sterling silver, often featuring weighted bases filled with resin, plaster, or wood to provide stability, supported by internal iron rods.

Authenticity is verified through clear hallmarks stamped on the metal, which indicate the assay office, standard of purity, and date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture.

They can be positioned as a centrepiece on a dining table or placed on a mantelpiece to introduce metallic contrast and traditional craftsmanship into contemporary schemes.

Preservation involves regular dusting with a soft cloth and occasional gentle polishing with a non-abrasive silver cleaner to prevent tarnish without removing the surface metal.
