We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Porcelain and ceramic vessels have been adapted into lighting fixtures for centuries, often utilizing imported Asian ceramics or European porcelain factories mounted with brass or bronze hardware during the 19th and 20th centuries.

These pieces typically combine glazed ceramic or porcelain bodies with cast brass, bronze, or gilt metal mounts, often set upon weighted metallic or wooden bases.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the ageing of the metal components, the hand-thrown or moulded characteristics of the ceramic body, the type of wiring and fittings, and any makers marks or stamps on the base.

They can be used as symmetrical accent lighting on sideboards, consoles, or bedside tables, paired with simple linen shades to balance traditional form with contemporary clean lines.

Dust the ceramic body gently with a dry microfiber cloth and clean metal mounts with a soft brush, avoiding harsh chemical polishes that can strip patination or damage the glaze.
