We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian repousse silverwork involves hammering and pushing the metal from the reverse side to create raised, ornate decorative motifs on the front surface, often featuring elaborate floral and scroll patterns.

These pieces were typically crafted from sterling silver or high-grade silver alloys, shaped by hand-hammering, chasing, and mounting on small decorative feet.

Authentic pieces can be identified by hallmarks stamped into the metal indicating the maker, assay office, and year of production, alongside the natural patina and hand-worked characteristics of period craftsmanship.

Such an item works well as a contrasting metallic accent on a dark timber sideboard, a marble mantelpiece, or a coffee table, adding texture and historical depth to modern schemes.

Preserve antique silver by gently cleaning it with a specialised non-abrasive silver polish only when necessary, handling it with soft cloths to avoid scratching, and storing it in a dry, tarnish-resistant environment.
