Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian silverwork, spanning the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, frequently draws upon neoclassical motifs such as swags, ribbons, and classical figures, often executed with refined delicacy compared to heavier Victorian styles.

These items are typically crafted from sterling silver, indicated by a lion passant hallmark in British assay offices, and constructed using techniques such as stamping, repousse work, and delicate soldering to assemble elevated frames on legs.

Authenticity is verified through clear hallmarks stamped on the metal, which include the makers mark, the sterling standard hallmark, the city assay office mark, and a date letter corresponding to the early 20th century.

Positioning this piece on a dressing table, mantlepiece, or side table introduces a reflective metallic element that complements both contemporary minimalist surfaces and traditional wood finishes.

Maintenance requires gentle cleaning with a specialised silver cloth to remove tarnish without abrading the fine surface details, avoiding harsh chemical dips that can strip away desirable oxidisation in recessed areas.
