Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Indo-Chinese export trinket box originates from the period around 1900. Fashioned from solid silver with a bright metallic finish, the circular container displays detailed hand-chased foliage and flowers set against a stippled textured background, alongside smooth raised mouldings that divide the surface. The piece measures 7.2 cm wide by 5.7 cm tall. Suitable for placement on a sideboard top, the box functions as a refined container for small personal items in a gentleman's library or a living space. Its compact proportions allow it to sit discreetly on a desk, mantlepiece or display table, bringing traditional Asian export design and metalwork into contemporary interior settings.

FAQs

Asian export silver refers to silver items crafted in regions such as China, India, and South East Asia predominantly between the late eighteenth and early twentieth centuries for Western markets, blending traditional Eastern motifs with European functional forms.

These pieces were typically wrought by hand from high-grade silver, using techniques such as repousse and chasing to create raised, intricate botanical or figurative relief patterns on a finely textured stippled ground.

Authentic items often feature specific silversmith marks, character marks, or purity stamps alongside characteristic hand-chased ornamentation, crisp relief details, and signs of natural age or mild oxidisation in recessed areas.

Place the box on a polished wooden sideboard, marble mantelpiece, or stack of art books to add metallic depth and historic detail to modern tabletop vignettes.

Dust regularly with a soft lint-free cloth and clean periodically using a specialized silver polishing cloth, avoiding harsh abrasive cleaners that could remove deliberate oxidisation or damage delicate surface chasing.
