This Edwardian French Chateau style chandelier is a large two-tiered birdcage form lighting fixture constructed from clear crystal, glass, and solid brass with a gold-coloured finish. The piece features solid brass S-scroll arms, candle-style bulb holders with candle drippers, and cut glass bobeches. Numerous ornate cut-crystal drops, pendalogues, swags, and large crystal balls adorn both tiers, accompanied by a cut crystal encased ceiling cup. The fixture holds sixteen lights, including ten on the bottom tier, five on the top tier, and a central uplighter. The chandelier measures 195 cm in height, 105 cm in width, and 105 cm in depth, with a minimum height of 153 cm. Suitable for installation in a grand reception room, hallway, or formal dining room, this lighting piece provides significant overhead illumination while serving as a decorative focal point. The clear and gold colour scheme coordinates with classic and traditional interior decoration schemes. Wiring and electrical installation must be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with local safety regulations.

Bohemian crystal chandeliers originated in the historic region of Bohemia, now part of the Czech Republic, during the seventeenth century. Renowned for superior glass-cutting techniques and high refraction, these light fixtures became central decorative elements in European royal courts and stately residences.

These fixtures are constructed using leaded glass or high-clarity crystal drops suspended from a brass or gilt-metal armature. The individual glass pendants are connected using brass pins or wire ties, creating a flexible structure that allows light to pass through faceted edges.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut facets with sharp, precise edges rather than rounded molded seams. Additionally, the glass displays high brilliance and clarity with subtle prism colour dispersion, supported by heavy brass or bronze framing and hand-pinned crystal connections.

A crystal chandelier serves as a focal point when suspended above a dining table, within a high-ceilinged hallway, or in a formal living room. Contrast can be created by pairing ornate glasswork with minimalist architectural elements and modern neutral colour palettes.

Routine maintenance requires gentle dusting with a soft lint-free cloth or feather duster. Deep cleaning involves applying a specialised crystal cleaning solution or diluted isopropyl alcohol to individual drops, drying each piece thoroughly, and regularly inspecting electrical wiring for safety.
