Drum mustard pots gained popularity during the 18th century as dining habits evolved and specialized condiment containers became fashionable for formal table settings.

These pieces were typically crafted from sterling silver using techniques such as raising, soldering, and casting for handles and thumbpieces, often fitted with blue glass liners.

Authenticity is determined by checking for clear hallmarks indicating the assay office, date letter, and makers mark, alongside period-appropriate construction and wear.

Displaying historical silver pieces on open shelving or dining sideboards introduces metallic texture and a layer of curated historical interest to modern spaces.

Antique silver should be cleaned infrequently using specialized non-abrasive silver polish and stored in tarnish-resistant cloths in stable humidity conditions.
