Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A George VI silver toast rack is a British tabletop serveware piece crafted between 1936 and 1952. These pieces were designed with vertical divisions to hold toasted bread upright, allowing steam to escape and preventing sogginess during breakfast service.

In the late 1930s, silver toast racks were constructed using drawn silver wire forming smooth arches soldered to a solid rim or base frame. Supporting elements included cast silver ball feet or loop handles, finished with stamped assay hallmarks indicating purity and date.

Authentic pieces carry a set of British assay hallmarks, including the monarchs duty mark, a lion passant for sterling purity, an assay town mark (such as London, Birmingham, or Sheffield), and a date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture.

Beyond breakfast service, silver toast racks are frequently repurposed on modern desks or dressers as functional holders for stationery, business cards, incoming mail, or linen napkins.

Silver tableware should be washed in warm, soapy water and dried immediately with a soft cloth. Tarnishing can be removed using a non-abrasive silver polish applied gently with a cotton cloth, avoiding harsh scrubbing over delicate hallmarks.
