Edwardian silver, produced during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, often reflects lighter, more graceful designs influenced by eighteenth-century aesthetics, frequently featuring floral motifs, ribbons, and scrollwork.

These items are typically crafted from sterling silver, stamped with hallmarks denoting the assay office, standard of purity, and date letter, often utilizing techniques such as repousse, chasing, and stamping.

Authenticity is verified through clear hallmarks, including a makers mark, a lion passant indicating sterling standard, a city mark for the assay office such as the three crowns for Chester, and a date letter corresponding to the year of assay.

Antique silver can be incorporated into contemporary settings by placing them on surfaces like sideboards or dressing tables to introduce metallic contrast, texture, and historical depth.

Preservation involves regular, gentle dusting with a soft cloth and occasional polishing using a specialist silver cleaner to remove tarnish, storing the item in a dry environment away from direct sunlight.
