Sovereign cases were small, portable containers designed during the 19th and early 20th centuries to hold gold sovereign coins securely in a pocket or on a watch chain.

They were predominantly crafted from sterling silver or gold, often featuring hand-engraved scrollwork, engine-turned patterns, or repousse decoration created by skilled silversmiths.

Authentic pieces typically bear British hallmark stamps indicating the metal standard, assay office, and date letter, along with makers marks characteristic of the period.

Such small collectables are frequently displayed inside glass top display cabinets, styled on desktop trays, or integrated into curated tabletop vignettes.

Silver should be cleaned sparingly using a soft microfiber cloth and a mild, non-abrasive silver polish to maintain the original patina and prevent wear to the fine engraving.
