Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Victorian piano stools are characterised by robust timber construction, often utilizing mahogany or walnut, and frequently feature turned pedestals, tripod bases, and intricately upholstered tops reflecting the periods preference for functional ornamentation.

These pieces typically employ solid hardwoods like mahogany or walnut for the turned central column and tripod legs, joined using traditional mortise and tenon or screw mechanisms, topped with padded seats covered in needlepoint tapestry or velvet.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate tool marks, hand-turned woodwork with natural patination, traditional upholstery methods including horsehair stuffing or webbing, and wear patterns consistent with nineteenth-century manufacturing techniques.

This piece functions effectively as an occasional seat in a living room, a vanity stool in a bedroom, or an accent piece next to a bookcase, introducing historical texture and warmth to modern spaces.

Maintain the item by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent wood splitting, dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth, and applying microcrystalline wax periodically to nourish the wooden surface.
