Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Novelty silver pin cushions gained immense popularity in late Victorian and Edwardian Britain, produced by specialist makers who cast miniature animals, birds, and household objects in sterling silver to serve as functional desk and dressing table accessories.

These pieces were typically crafted using sterling silver sheet or cast components, fitted with a plush silk velvet or wool insert stuffed with sawdust or wool to securely hold sewing pins.

Authentic pieces bear clear British hallmarks stamped directly onto the silver body, including the makers mark (such as Adie & Lovekin), the town mark (three anchors for Birmingham), the lion passant for sterling silver, and a date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture.

Place small novelty silver objects on a stack of art books, a marble mantelpiece, or inside a glass-fronted cabinet to add a touch of historical character and refined metallic detail to contemporary schemes.

Clean sterling silver gently with a specialist microfibre polishing cloth to prevent the removal of original patination, and keep moisture away from the fabric cushion to avoid deterioration of the internal stuffing.
