A Large Japanese Pottery Vase with Bold Enamelled Decoration, Circa 1910

This large Japanese vase is made from satsuma type pottery and is richly decorated in thick enamels in a style that simulates cloisonné pieces from the same period. The vase has a low rimmed foot from which the bulbous body rises and flows into a very narrow neck with a small flared rim. The vase is separated into bold bands of ground colour, dark green, mid green and maroon. The central maroon section holds the majority of the complex decoration which is in an exotic floral flower and leaf design in an assortment of rich colours. A most impressive large highly decorative vase in excellent original condition with no repairs or restoration.
