The Georgian era in glass production spans the reigns of the Hanoverian kings from 1714 to 1830, characterised by significant advancements in lead crystal manufacturing and distinct stylistic developments in stemware.

These drinking vessels were typically crafted using heavy lead glass, often referred to as flint glass, which provided clarity, weight, and durability suited for hand-engraving.

Authenticity is assessed through characteristics such as pontil marks on the base, uneven thickness in the hand-blown bowl, tool marks from manufacture, and microscopic surface wear consistent with age.

Antique stemware can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets, utilised on bar carts for a touch of history, or styled on open shelving to introduce texture and heritage to modern spaces.

Antique glass should be washed by hand using lukewarm water and mild detergent, avoiding harsh scrubbing, sudden temperature changes, and dishwashers to protect the delicate surface and engraving.
