The Georgian era spans from 1714 to 1830, a period marked by significant developments in glass manufacture following the Glass Excise Act of 1745, which taxed glass by weight and encouraged the production of heavier, lead-rich glass with distinctive stems and facet cuts.

These items were typically hand-blown using lead crystal or soda glass, featuring applied traits such as folded feet for stability, and decorated using diamond-point engraving, wheel-engraving, or air and opaque twist techniques within the stem.

Authentic pieces often exhibit pontil marks on the underside of the base where the glassblowers rod was snapped off, characteristic wear and tear such as fine base scratches known as age scratches, minor bubbles or inclusions within the metal, and hand-cut facets that lack modern mechanical uniformity.

Antique stemware can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets, utilized on a bar cart to introduce historical texture, or integrated carefully into tablescapes to contrast modern minimalism with heritage craftsmanship.

Antique glass should always be hand-washed in lukewarm water using mild detergent without ever being placed in a dishwasher. It should be dried immediately with a lint-free cloth and kept away from extreme thermal shocks and direct sunlight.
