This early 20th century Edwardian cut glass basket chandelier brings period French Chateau style to interior lighting. The fixture combines a brass frame with clear cut glass beads, crystal droplets, and a spherical bottom ball, suspended against a turquoise textile background. The structure features a top section decorated with glass flowers and drips, a lower brass ring with four scrolled arms carrying drips and flowers, and a large central flower made from drips. Additional visible details include an upper hanging chain, a bottom pendant sphere, and faceted hanging elements throughout the framework. Measuring 54 cm high, 38 cm wide, and 38 cm deep, the piece includes a large bayonet bulb holder type B 22 st 3363. Suitable for ceiling installation, this chandelier provides decorative illumination for principal rooms, hallways, or dining spaces in traditional settings. The combination of brass metalwork and reflective glass elements creates a balanced distribution of light downward through the basket structure. The hardware configuration allows direct wiring to standard domestic ceiling circuits while maintaining the historic proportion of the fitting. Maintenance involves standard dusting of the glass surfaces and occasional polishing of the brass components to preserve their finish.

A basket chandelier, also known as a bag chandelier, features a tiered or bowl-shaped metal frame suspended with cascading strings of glass beads or faceted crystal drops.

These light fittings typically incorporate cast brass or gilded bronze framework combined with hand-cut lead glass or crystal octagons, beads, and pendant drops.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-cut glass facets showing slight variations, heavy metal frames with natural surface oxidisation, and hand-wired crystal connectors rather than modern stapled pins.

Suspend the light fitting centrally within an entrance hallway or above a dining table to create a focal point, contrasting reflective glass textures against neutral wall palettes.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth, or clean individual crystals gently using a mixture of warm water and isopropyl alcohol applied via a soft swab while keeping metal elements dry.
