Victorian glass production was characterised by technical innovation, heavy use of lead crystal, and intricate cutting techniques, with renowned makers such as Thomas Webb producing highly ornate tableware for formal dining.

These pieces were typically crafted from heavy lead crystal or flint glass, shaped using free-blowing or mould-blowing techniques, and finished with hand-cut geometric patterns and applied handles.

Authentic pieces exhibit heavy weight due to high lead content, hand-polished pontil marks on the base, characteristic wear patterns, and often maker signatures or distinctive stylistic motifs associated with period glasshouses.

Antique glass adds textural contrast and reflective quality when displayed on sideboards, open shelving, or bar carts, pairing effectively with both modern minimalist and traditional decor.

Antique crystal should be washed by hand in lukewarm water using a mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes, and dried carefully with a lint-free cloth to protect the delicate cut surfaces.
