A superb 19th century Claret Jug dating to c1870.
It has a fine engraved silver plated handle and cap (perfect working order). The glass neck has slice cutting above a foliate engraved band and a field of cut diamonds. Star cut base.

Excellent, age-related wear as shown. No chips cracks or restoration, clean and clear.

Historical Relevance
Benjamin Henry perfects the Henry rifle which was manufactured by the New Haven Arms Company, and used in considerable numbers by certain Union army units in the American Civil War. Confederates called the Henry "that damned Yankee rifle that they load on Sunday and shoot all week!"
