"Scottish" Opaque Twist Wine Glass C1830

Technical Description 
 
A superb ''Scottish Type'' opaque twist wine glass dating to c1800-1850. It has a bell bowl with a solid section at the base. Sits on a thin double series opaque twist stem consisting of a pair of spiral taspes outside a multiply corkscrew. Conical foot with a snapped pontil.

England, c1830. Period of George III
 
Condition
 
Excellent, age-related wear as shown, no chips cracks or restoration.

Historical Relevance 
 
This particular form of drinking glass has traditionally been referred to as a ''Scottish'' opaque twist. I must be honest in saying I''ve never seen any documented evidence which can back up this claim but what can be said is that the form is consistent and almost certainly they all came out of the same glassworks over approx a 70 year period.
