Glass lustres are decorative mantel ornaments featuring a central vase or pedestal fitted with hanging glass prisms, popular during the 19th century.

They were crafted from blown and pressed colored glass, frequently decorated with hand-painted enamel and gilt detailing, and hung with cut-glass crystal prisms attached via brass loops.

Authentic pieces typically display pontil marks on the base, hand-applied enamel motifs, minor imperfections or air bubbles in the glass, and heavy-cut lead crystal prisms.

They work well as symmetrical accent pieces on a mantelpiece, sideboard, or console table, reflecting natural light through their crystal prisms.

Prisms should be carefully removed and washed in warm soapy water, while the main body requires gentle dusting with a soft microfiber cloth to protect any gilt or enamel work.
