FAQs

Cast brass lighting fixtures gained prominence during the 19th and early 20th centuries, prized for their durability, malleability for intricate casting, and luxurious metallic sheen that complemented formal and eclectic interiors.

These lamps are typically produced using traditional sand-casting methods, where molten brass is poured into moulds, followed by hand-finishing, channelling, and polishing to accentuate detailed motifs.

Authentic period pieces often feature heavier weight, natural oxidisation patterns in recessed areas, hand-tooled detailing rather than uniform machine stamping, and historical wiring components or patinated brass fixtures.

Pair these lamps with contrasting textures such as linen lampshades or marble surfaces to balance their metallic warmth, placing them on sideboards, consoles, or desks to introduce a focal point of refined character.

Maintain brass items by dusting with a soft, dry cloth and avoiding harsh chemical polishes that strip away the desirable historical patina, preserving the protective surface layer accumulated over decades.
