Georgian Balustroid Rib Moulded Wine Glass C1740

Technical Description
 
An antique 18th century balustroid wine glass. It has a round funnel bowl with pronounced rib moulding to the lower half. The rib moulding continues down through two large well defined knops and a basal knop. Conical folded foot.
 
A very unusual example and part of the Michael Wallis Collection.
 
Date & Origin
 
England, c1740. Period of George II.
 
Condition
 
Excellent, age-related wear as shown.

Height: 14.5cm Rim diameter: 5.2cm Foot diameter: 7.4cm.
 
Historical Relevance
