Very Rare 18th Century Pan Top Mercury Twist C1750

Technical Description
 
An exceptional 18th-century wine glass with a pan top bowl. Sits on a true mercury twist stem with a conical foot with a snapped pontil.
 
Comments
 
An exceptionally rare glass and the first pan top mercury twist we had had in over 20 years. There are other dealers who have claimed to have had one but they are in fact double series air twists of spiral air columns and NOT Mercury twists.
 
The foot has had a polish and we have taken that into consideration, however, the rarity of the form is outstanding and you won''t find another example on line.

England, c1760. Period of George III.
 
Condition
 
No chips cracks or restoration, the foot rim has had a polish.

Historical Relevance
