The gilded twin handles modelled as intertwined swans-necks and heads . The tops with gilded rims , the tops of the bodies with colourful bands of classical style decoration. Raised on waisted and turned socle-type bases .

In excellent original condition with no damage, repairs or wear .
Probably produced by the Staffordshire firm of Samuel Alcock & Co. The underside of the bases with a scripted under-glaze pattern number .

A striking pair of stylish classical design vases in an arresting colour. Large scale ancient ‘Volute Krater’ vases of this form from classical antiquity were used in feasting and celebration in which to mix wine and water .
