Description
A very good pair of mid 19th century French provincial fruit wood side cabinets with tambour slides and further small side drawers, 3/4 gallery tops, a pot board shelf and these are fully finished to the rear, so they can be used as sofa end tables and free stand, circa 1860 and in lovely original condition with the most fantastic colour and patina from use and beeswax. The pair of side cabinets are made using walnut, some mahogany and also fruit wood which is absolutely typical of the southern French provincial style. All sides have a band of string inlay which is a subtle contrast and finishes them nicely. The tops the same and also with the low 3/4 gallery framing. The tambour slides work well and give a bit of storage and the tambour themselves give another texture to the cabinets. Supported on simple tapered legs and the pot board shelf. It is not often I will come across true pairs of cabinets like this of this age, clearly mid 19th century and in good condition.
