Description:
This is a good quality antique English pair of adapted Georgian provincial solid oak wall hanging spice cupboards, circa 1780, in excellent condition. They are cupboards which have been adapted from a dresser rack. The cupboards comprise a moulded protruding cornice, above a single cupboard door, which retains the original brass butterfly hinges, original lock (with no key) and a wooden swivel latch, to secure the door when closed. The door opens to reveal a three-tier bank of shelves. The shelves are adjustable, with a full complement of brass shelf rests. The hanging cabinets feature the original pine backboards. The backboards incorporate wall attachment brackets with screw holes for mounting them to the wall. If you intend to store heavy items, it is advised stronger wall brackets and appropriate screw fixings are used to safely secure to the wall. The cupboards terminate on the original moulded plinth. This pair of cupboards is ideal in the kitchen or dining room, and offers significant storage space off the floor. They are solid in joint and ready to use.
