This set of four Edwardian candlesticks follows a Georgian style, produced in Sheffield in 1910 from silver. Each piece displays a bright silver colour and polished finish, with a scalloped sconce, a tiered collar, a baluster stem, and a moulded square base. The photograph additionally reveals a small hanging tag attached to the left-hand stem, subtle variations in surface reflections across the four stems, and a stepped profile on the stepped edges of the bases. Measuring 30.5 cm high by 12.7 cm wide and 12.7 cm deep, the set suits placement as a dining table centrepiece or on a sideboard in a traditional interior.

FAQs

Georgian style silver candlesticks typically feature baluster stems, square or shaped bases with moulded detail, and removable sconces for catching wax drippings.

Antique metal candlesticks were predominantly cast in solid sterling silver, silver-plated copper, or brass, often filled with resin or lead for stability.

Authentic silver pieces feature official hallmarks indicating purity, maker, city, and date letter, along with signs of wear consistent with age such as faint surface micro-scratches.

Arrange a set along a dining table runner or position them symmetrically on a sideboard or mantelpiece to add reflective metallic tones to the room.

Clean silver using a soft cloth and a specialised non-abrasive silver polish, taking care to avoid harsh chemicals and drying thoroughly to prevent oxidisation or water spots.
