Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Welsh pine mule chest is a regional variant of traditional storage furniture developed in the eighteenth century, featuring a top coffer compartment with a hinged lid set above one or two bottom drawers. Crafted in Wales from local softwoods, these pieces served as robust domestic storage for linens and textiles.

Eighteenth-century pine coffers feature pegged mortise-and-tenon framing, hand-planed pine boards, and raised fielded panels along the front and sides. The drawers typically display hand-cut dovetail joints and original wrought iron or cast brass hardware.

Authentic period pine chests show signs of historical age such as hand-saw marks on secondary timber, uneven wear around handles and keyholes, natural shrinkage gaps between solid wood planks, and original iron hinges or lock mechanisms.

Pine coffers and mule chests are often positioned in entryways, placed at the foot of a bed, or used as central storage furniture in living spaces to introduce warm wood tones and texture against modern plaster or stone backdrops.

Maintain pine furniture by applying a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the wood and protect its natural patina. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and radiators to prevent timber shrinkage and splitting.
