An attractive pine chest, the two-panelled top with a moulded edge fixed to the box section with wrought iron hinges, the interior having a candle box and the front having four raised-and-fielded square panels flanked by mouldings, and with panelled ends, above a deep moulding over a pair of drawers and raised on stile feet.
This chest is unusual for pine in that it does not seem to have originally been painted or grained and has a nice mellow colour and good surface patination.
(The brassware is later and the original hinges are damaged. The right hand side is an inch lower than the left giving a slight lean)
