Description:
Here is a fine quality pair of antique English Art Deco figured & burr walnut bedsides, with a stepped “skyscraper” design, circa 1930, in excellent condition.
The bedsides are constructed with lovely figured walnut veneers to the chamfered cross-banded mouldings to the corners, frame and sides. The drawer fronts are decorated with stunning burr walnut veneers. The bedsides are constructed with a stepped “skyscraper” design, with a shallower drawer to the top section, with a moulded sloped front, with two large drawers below. The drawers are constructed with dovetail joints and retain their original Bakelite handles. The drawers run smoothly and close flush to the frame. The bedsides stand on their original curved bracket feet. These bedsides boast classic Art Deco styling throughout; this is visible in the rounded corners, clean lines and stepped design.

Condition Report:
These bedside chests are in excellent condition, which is commensurate with their age. They are pedestals from an Art Deco dressing table, which have been adapted into bedside chests. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, but nothing significant considering the age of them. The bedsides have been cleaned and traditionally French polished by hand to a professional standard in our workshop, therefore the patination and colour of an excellent standard. The drawers close flush to the frame and retain the original handles. These items are well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
