A superb carved and painted pine marriage armoire.
Notable carved details to side and front and especially the strong scrolling to the top moulding and delicately carved tracery to the centre door divide.
It was a special marriage commission and has the initials of the betrothed to the tops of the doors and the date “1847” below. From private collection. Very sound and clean condition.
The painting and use of colour is for me exceptional. Probably Austrian.
