Yolanda Gray Antiques has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
Below, is a pair of flame mahogany, cross-banded doors. The right-hand door retains the original turned knob, as well as the original working lock, with working key, while the left-hand door retains the original sliding bolt latch. The doors open to reveal a four-tier shelved interior, painted in attractive juniper ash (from Little Greene paint company), which attractively contrasts the red-brown exterior of the piece. Below the internal section of the cupboard, is a single hand dovetailed drawer, situated between two faux drawers. The drawer is oak lined and, along with the faux drawers, boasts a cross-banded front and the original turned knob. The top section terminates on a moulded apron, resting on the stand below, which incorporates a moulded, bowed top rail. The stand is raised on three straight block legs, which are connected by a shaped shelf. The shelf also includes an upstand to the rear, preventing items from rolling off the back. The cupboard is ideal in the kitchen or dining room, and offers significant storage space. This item is solid in joint and ready to use. The corner cupboard has been traditionally French polished by hand in our workshop; therefore, the finish and colour are in excellent condition.
