Oak Silver Cabinet with Breadalbane Coat of Arms

19th century
Description

Circa 1860, unusual oak silver cabinet. With large moulded cornice with beading and foliate carved foredges, over a full sized door with a double coat of arms featuring the Breadalbane coat of arms (with boar head and motto ‘Follow Me’), and the other unknown, surrounded by carved panels in foliate and geometric designs. Opening to a series of drawers and pull-out slides (all lined in green baize) over further mouldings and an enclosed plinth base.

Provenance: likely Taymouth Castle, Perth and Kinross, Scotland (home of the Campbell’s of Breadalbane).
