Description

An elaborately carved panel, single door Baroque cabinet. A well carved front with laurel swags and leaf decoration. Simple moulded edge top. The moulded base sits on shaped bracket feet which are probably 200 year old replacements. Side panels in oak with plugged holes when turned knobs would have been originally. Original iron hinges, backboards are walnut but probably 18th century replacements. The single shelf is a later replacement, the cabinet would have had two shelves. Some historic but long dead worm holes. Base board has strengthening timber added from the underside, however the cabinet is very structurally sound.Superb colour C 1630. As you can see some honest repairs but this is a rare piece of furniture in predominantly excellent condition for its 400 years of age, and has a superb waxed patination.
