Royal Worcester Small Vase - Hand Painted with Fruit and Signed by Thomas Lockyer

1920 - 1940
Description

A very pretty and small sized (6.5 inches tall) hand-painted Royal Worcester baluster vase (1661) decorated by Thomas Lockyer with gilding to the slender neck and base, with fruit (apples, blackberries, and gooseberries) and mossy foliage in the background. Further hand-painted blackberries on the reverse. Signed by the artist "T. Lockyer".

In perfect condition. Signed.

Thomas (Tom) Greville Lockyer worked at the Royal Worcester factory from just before the 1st world war (1913) until his death in 1935. Wounded during the war Tom was left with a limp and spent the rest of his working life painting fruit (very much in the style of Frank Roberts) doing dessert fruits with mossy backgrounds. He is referenced in the book  "Royal Worcester Porcelain" by Henry Sandon (p.98).
