Antique Imperial Japanese Satsuma Vase Meiji Signed Pottery Mark

Description

Japanese Meiji period Satsuma globular vase or jar, circa 1890

Fine hand painted in raised enamels, a continuous view of a swirling blue ribbon and chrysantheums.

Lengthy character marks in red, gilt and impressed.

In good, bright, sound condition with no damage or repair, noting crazing and browning to the cream ground and some wear to the raised gilt.

Height 6" or 154mm, weight 1252 grams.
