Superb Pair of French 19thc Fine Quality Breche Violette Marble Cassolettes in the Louis XVI Style

A superb pair of French late 19th century fine quality Breche Violette marble cassolettes with finely chased ormolu mounts in the Louis XVI style.

The cassolettes consist of removable marble lids with ormolu finial decoration to the top in the form of flambeaux leading down to an ormolu collar with floral and foliate decoration.

The main marble body of the cassolettes have ormolu handles in the form of rams horns, these being joined by ormolu floral and foliate swags with ormolu foliate decoration below.

The marble bases have a laurel leaf ormolu collar supported by a square marble plinth.

These items are in very good condition for age and can go straight into a home or collection.
