Pair Chinese ‘Rouge De Fer’ Vases, C.1700. Kangxi Period.

18th century
Description

A fine pair of Chinese porcelain vases, Kangxi Period (1662-1722). Both vases decorated in ‘rouge de fer’ with pavilions, bridges and trees, amongst mountainous river landscapes. The scenes enclosed within scrolled panels, upon an underglaze blue scale ground.

Both necks with a continuous band of Ruyi head, iron red and gilt, beneath the underglaze blue banded and gilt rims.

Concentric circles in underglaze blue, within the unglazed foot rims.

Height - 27 cm, 10 5/8”.

Diameter - 10.5 cm, 4 1/8”.

Condition - Repair to hairline crack to one rim, and ‘V’ section to the other rim. Firing glaze blister towards the foot of one vase. Typical minor wear to the gilding. Please see images for detail.
