TJR Trading has dated this Victorian Sterling Silver Inkwell to the 1870s.
The inkwell itself is missing the lid. It has a globular glass body decorated with engraved leaf motifs.

The stand is of lobed form with an engraved border and foliate motifs. It is also engraved 'Presented to the Rev.d John Davis by a few friends who deeply regret his resigning the Pastorate of Manvers St. Church, with best wishes for his future happiness, Bath, August 1876.'

The inkwell is fully hallmarked in two places, and the stand is also hallmarked. The glass is in good order. The silver has some small dents and wear expected from a piece of its age.
The stand alone weighs 125g (4.02 ozt).
