Description

George III oak press cupboard of superb quality with fielded panel doors cross banded in mahogany with a chequered line. The drawers featherbanded with fruitwood cockbeading. The cornice waist and base moulding are superbly carved probably ensuite with interior wood work at houses such as Mawley Hall and Davenport Hall. The press also has a Shropshire provenance perhaps indicating a local centre of carving excellence in the second quarter of the 18th century originally shelved now with hanging rail original handles later escutcheons and feet.
