Description:
This is a superb quality antique English Victorian pitch pine bedside cabinet, circa 1890, in excellent condition. The bedside cabinet boasts a moulded top with ebonised detail and angled corners; this design is also reflected in the plinths. Additionally, the top includes an up stand to the rear, to prevent items from rolling off the back. The bedside features an internal compartment that comprises two removable shelves. The door retains its original triangular brass handle, and escutcheon with faux keyhole, which displays an attractive geometric design. The door also boasts an inset panel with moulded edge. The bedside stands on its original top quality angled corner pine plinths with ebonised detail. The bedside is constructed of top quality pitch pine. The quality is reflected in the weight of this bedside; it is heavy to lift!
Condition Report:
This bedside cabinet is in excellent condition, having been polished in our workshop. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. There are no cup marks to the top of the bedside. The cupboard door retains its original brass handle and escutcheon. The bedside is constructed of top quality pitch pine, which gives a superb colour and patination. The quality is reflected in the weight of these bedsides; they are heavy to lift! They are solid in joint and ready to use.
