Description:

This is a fine quality antique Georgian oak Cwpwrdd Deuddarn, circa 1750, in good condition, displaying stunning colour, incorporating internal drawers, originating from North Wales. Incorporating an ogee cornice and drop finials, the top section comprises three lovely arcadian fielded panelled doors and panelled sides. The central door houses three small internal drawers; flanked by cupboards either side. This type of cupboard was typically used for storing kitchen utensils and food and would have taken pride of place as one of the most valuable possessions in the house. The bottom section features two large triple panelled doors, which incorporates a fixed shelf inside the cupboard. The lower cupboard doors retain their original iron pin hinges; the drawer fronts retain their original brass knobs and the drawers retain the original brass swan neck handles. The cupboard stands on its original block feet (stiles), with inset panel sides and the back retains its original panelled boards. The cupboard frame and doors have been constructed in the traditional joined peg construction method. The cupboard dismantles into two sections, for ease of transport and access into the house. All in all, this is a stunning piece of early period oak antique furniture.

Condition Report:

This item is in good condition, which is commensurate with its age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. All doors and hinges are in good working order; they close comfortably (they are not warped). The lower cupboard doors retain their original iron pin hinges; the door fronts feature the original brass knobs and the drawers incorporate the original brass swan neck handles. Later hinges to the top section doors. The top section of the backboards, sides and roof boards are original. This piece has been cleaned and wax polished in our workshop and boasts a stunning colour. The item is solid in joint and stands firm on the ground.
