A Pair of Rare Royal Worcester Powder Blue 1923 Both Signed H.ayrton Decorated with Vignettes of Fruit.

1900 - 1920
Description

This fabulous pair of vases are of powder blue in colour with painted scenes of fruit vingrette by H.Ayrton dating to 1923. These as a pair in this powder blue colour signed by the same artist are very rare, and the detail that has been embued into both pieces makes for a very special pair of matching vases. Seemingly Ayrton tried to incorporate as much colour as possible into these vases, the pictures more than any decription will sell these pieces. Having for hour been trying to find a matching or similar pair of vases, as opposed to cups or plates, I’ve been unable to found anything remotely similar. They are in great condition as the pictures will attest, the gilding on both is ornate and beautifully handed painted, within the guilding not only do you have the gorgeous blue, but colours of light green almost turquoise and pink. This is before you get to the main central art works, the vividness of his scenes even after all these years is splendid. The dimensions of both these vases are 7”high, 3” from gilded handle to handle and 3” deep. I’ve seen H.Ayrton's work before in this powdered blue form, but only in display plates and cups and saucers, never in two matching vases from the same year, signed. Ayrton started at Royal Worcester in 1920 and worked until his retirement in 1970, making these some of Harry Ayrton's earliest work and thus some of his oldest surviving works. It’s like the vigour of youth exploded onto porcelain with dynamic lustre and unrestrained colour.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
