An antique Chinese porcelain stem vase, probably 19th century. It has a slender neck and bulbous body. The vase is hand enamelled and gilded in the famille rose palette.
To one side the vase is decorated with a figure in a landscape. To the other side are two mythical creatures chasing a
flaming pearl. The rest of the vase is decorated with flowers and a butterfly.
The vase has some slight faults from the manufacturing process. It leans slightly to one side. There is also some sand or grit embedded in the glaze to the base and also by the mythical creatures. This would likely have happened when the glaze was being fired.
I can''t see any evidence of cracks, chips or restoration, though the gilding is worn in some places.
