Handsome Regency Mahogany Linen-press

19th century
Description

-Welcome to Mersham Manor Antiques-

An elegant early 19th century mahogany linen press.

c1830.

Lovely figuring and rich golden colour and patination to the mahogany.

To the top is a projecting moulded cornice, over arch panelled doors. The doors open to reveal a wooden hanging rail and four mahogany slides. The slides each open smoothly. The doors have the original flush bolt locks to the left door, and original working lock and key to the right door.

Below is a chest of four drawers-two short and two long. With cock-beading and the original turned bun-handles.

Standing on a plinth base, with flattened bun-feet.

Very easy to move as it can be dismantled into three sections.

The condition overall is excellent antique condition, with general expected signs of use consistent with age, a couple of historical small minor repairs to the veneers around the drawers.

Width including cornice-126cm.

Depth-54cm.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
