The Carmarthen coffer is divided into two sections; the top section comprises a cupboard with a single shelf. The doors to the cupboard boast two lovely raised and fielded Gothic shaped Arcadian panels and retain their original oak knobs. The doors also feature the original working lock and a working key. The front corners of the top section are adorned with assimilated bamboo spindles to the corners. Below the doors is a set of three moulded rectangular panels. The bottom section consists of five working drawers, arranged in a three-over-two configuration. The two drawers either side of the top central drawer feature the original working locks and a working key. The drawers are pine lined, constructed with hand dovetailed joints, retaining their original turned knobs.

The door and draw knobs and locks are all original and the interior is clean. The door even retains its original working lock, which comes with a working key. The cupboard boasts the original knobs, backboards and bracket feet. The feet have been re-tipped in the past. It also features a fantastic colour and patination, owing to the original polish, which has been revived. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
