Superb Pair of Art Nouveau Vases

A stunning pair of metal mounted pottery vases in the height of Art Nouveau design. The vase bodies are in a shaded glaze from dark blue to turquoise. The metal mounts are probably pewter and the design is based around whiplash curves and a central motif of an orchid. The pair are marked: one impressed with BR 8709, the other incised with the sign model number. The pair are almost certainly by the German potters Johann von Schwarz and designed by Carl Sigmund Luber. The condition is very good, there is some typical wear and discolouration to the metal work but the ceramics are excellent, with a minor glaze flaw and wear from the metal mount. These Vases are the very epitome of Art Nouveau with a huge amount of style and sinous elegance associated with the period C.1900.
